Oliveros Scholarship Fund

In the midst of the underprivileged community of Oliveros, Guatemala, good things are happening! Since 2011, after just seven years of providing scholarships to the children of Oliveros, The Oliveros Scholarship Fund is feeling success around us. In the 2019 school year, with your help, we are educating 65 students past the sixth grade. Unfortunately the Guatemalan government requires and totally funds no more than a 6th grades education. To continue school, families must have the resources for transportation, uniforms, books and other fees. Too many families do not have the means to fund this.

Those we have helped in the past are continuing to thrive as we provide university level scholarships to 9 students, helping them change their lives and the future of their families and community. These students understand that education does change the direction of their lives. And over the past seven years, success has been found by many.

For instance, meet Byron, whose childhood of extreme poverty and very difficult family issues brought many challenges. Now in his early 20’s, he takes weekend and evening classes, he has learned English all while he works full-time. Before the Oliveros Scholarship fund he worked in the sugar cane fields . With less than a sixth grade education he believed no options existed for him. With your help his life has changed. He serves as a medical translator with a nearby medical mission and hopes to have a university scholarship in the future with his goal to be a tour guide in neighboring Antigua. Byron’s success and the success of others like him can only happen with your help!

100% of your donation helps a child to continue and graduate from high school. Currently we give approximately $200 annually to high school students. University students are given a scholarship of $750 annually. We live in a world of incredible bounty where options to live successful lives are plentiful. Please consider sharing some of your good fortune with those whose lives will forever be changed by your generosity!
